There are ways to increase the speed of your Windows Vista installed PC

  • Disable the Aero theme
Well if you are a user who loves colorful desktops then quit this option. Disabling aero theme will allow you to work in Windows classic view environment. As these new graphical styles eat up most of the VGA card, CPU and RAM usage how are you supposed to enhance your PC’s speed without disabling them?
  • Disable Search Indexing option
Go to my computer. Right click on C: drive and switch to the general tab. Uncheck “index this drive for fast searching”.
  • Disable the Vista side bar
Right click on the sidebar and select close sidebar. Uncheck the option “Start Sidebar when Windows starts”, then click Ok.
  • Ready boost
You can connect a USB flash drive as a memory cache to your PC. Most USB flash drives perform fast than your hard drive. This helps Vista to perform faster.
  • Decrease the number of startup programs. If there are vast numbers of startup programs it will take lot of time to load them. So reduce this count. Type “msconfig” in the Run command box. Press OK. Click the “startup” tab and uncheck the unwanted applications. But don’t close windows system files.
